The YMCA came to Lock Haven and was Incorporated on July 19, 1897. The first YMCA location in Lock Haven was in the building on East Main St. which contained four rooms for meditation, club purposes, and social events. There was also a 2 lane bowling alley, a gym, and locker room. This building was eventually sold with the intention of erecting a new building.
In the 1930’s the State YMCA Association sent district secretaries to build the Hi-Y and Tri-My-Y program in the Lock Haven High School. By the late 30’s YMCA activities were carried on in the Opera House Block on the second floor over Davis Restaurant.
This group flourished so much that the Lions Club started the drive for a new YMCA building.
Please check Facebook for updated notifications during inclement weather. We will also utilize our ONECALLNOW system. This is a message sent directly to a phone number those members provide. If you would like to be added to the list, please ask a member service representative for a contact sheet.
Competitive Gymnastics, Swim Teams and Climbing Teams: Head coaches will make a decision by 2:00 p.m. and will notify Member Services and will communicate directly. *Because School Age child care will be offered at the Lutheran Church site only; team members will not be provided with YMCA transportation. If the decision is made to hold practices, parents should use their best judgment concerning road conditions.
